Our philosophy

 

All children deserve the right to experience a safe, enriching, healthy, nurturing environment, in which to play, learn and grow! We understand that every child is unique, with their own individual: rate/style of learning & growth, patterns of approach to situations, innate capacities, and understanding of themselves, as well as the world around them! Providing a foundation for a positive lifelong educational journey is a crucial aim of our program!

 

We recognize that genetics and the environment together significantly impact the course of development of every child. We believe that all aspects of development are interrelated! The physical, social, emotional, creative, and intellectual 'needs' of every child must be addressed/considered and fostered. We acknowledge that the development of a child suffers if there are deficiencies in nutrition/healthcare; attention & loving care; in opportunities for play, which nourishes growth in all areas; as well as in richness/variety of firsthand experiences! Therefore, our goal is to provide a positive, balanced program, promoting an optimal situation/environment for each child in our care, to grow (in all areas!), develop an interest/love of education/learning through play & firsthand experiences, and recognition of appropriate/positive social interactions with peers & adults to the best of our ability!

 

All children must be affirmed and supported as individuals, as their feelings, attitudes are critical to their learning, as well as fostering healthy personality growth and self-esteem! We recognize that children's behaviours are motivated by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors, therefore we must seek to understand each child independently!  Intelligence develops as it is nurtured, and as a result we provide age-appropriate knowledge in numerous, fun ways throughout the program. Learning and playing together cooperatively with everyone in the class is an extremely valuable skill, which we attempt to foster on a daily basis. Understanding, responsible guidance is necessary for children to develop to their full potential. Children greatly benefit from consistent opportunities to develop their creative expression and expand their imagination. Play is a very valued aspect of our program, as it is an important avenue for learning and enjoyment!
